We are going to be straightforward here rather than perform compliance. WpConsults is a small business and we are not legally required to publish a statement under the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, which applies to organizations above a large annual turnover threshold. We publish this voluntarily, and we will not pretend to run supply-chain audits that we do not run.
Our position
Forced labor, human trafficking, and child labor are indefensible. We will not knowingly work with any client, supplier, or contractor involved in them, and we would end an engagement immediately on discovering it.
Our actual supply chain
We are a digital services business. Our supply chain is essentially software: hosting, SaaS tools, and a small number of freelance contractors, most of whom we know personally.
We do not manufacture, ship, or source physical goods, so the classic modern slavery risk points do not apply to us the way they apply to a manufacturer or a retailer. Saying otherwise would be theater.
What we actually do
- We pay our contractors fairly and on time, at rates we agreed with them.
- We do not use labor platforms that undercut people into exploitative rates.
- We choose established software suppliers who publish their own policies.
- If we ever became aware of forced labor anywhere in our chain, we would cut the relationship and report it.
