It could be your logo or any symbol associated with your site. Make sure it&#8217;s clear and recognizable, even at a small size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Generate or convert Your Favicon free from <a href=\"https:\/\/favicon.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Favicon.io<\/a>. You must need to follow the provided <a href=\"#guideline\">guidelines<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has--font-size\" id=\"h-step-2-save-your-favicon\"><strong>Step 2: Save Your Favicon<\/strong> \/ <strong>Website Icon<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Save your icon in a standard image format such as .ico, .png, or .jpg. Ensure the image dimensions are a multiple of 48 pixels, like 48x48px, 96x96px, and so on. SVG files are also acceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-3-add-the-favicon-to-your-website\"><strong>Step 3: Add the Favicon to Your Website<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Insert a simple line of code in the <code>&lt;head&gt;<\/code> section of your website&#8217;s homepage. This code tells Google where your icon is located. Now wait for the next crawl. As per my experience it can take 15 &#8211; 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has--font-size\" id=\"guideline\"><strong>You Must Need to Follow These Guideline:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-must-be-crawlable\" style=\"font-size:22px\">Must be Crawlable.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The favicon file and the homepage must be accessible for <strong><em><sup>Googlebot-Image<\/sup><\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em><sup>Googlebot crawlers<\/sup><kbd>;<\/kbd><\/em><\/strong> they cannot be restricted from being crawled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-one-favicon-per-site\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>One favicon per Site:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google Search allows each website to have only one favicon. A website is defined by its hostname. For instance, both &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-1-color\">https:\/\/www.example.com\/<\/mark>&#8221; and &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-1-color\">https:\/\/code.example.com\/<\/mark>&#8221; are considered different websites, so they can have distinct favicons. However, if a website has subdirectories, such as &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-1-color\">https:\/\/www.example.com\/sub-site<\/mark>&#8221; it shares the same favicon as the main site and all its subdirectories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To clarify:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supported: &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-1-color\">https:\/\/example.com<\/mark>&#8221; (domain-level home page)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supported: &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-1-color\">https:\/\/news.example.com<\/mark>&#8221; (subdomain-level home page)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not supported: &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-1-color\">https:\/\/example.com\/news<\/mark>&#8221; (subdirectory-level home page)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-make-it-easily-identifiable\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Make It Easily Identifiable:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Design your icon so that it clearly represents your website or brand. This helps users recognize your site quickly in search results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stable-url\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Stable URL:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep the URL of your icon stable. Avoid changing it frequently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-avoid-inappropriate-content\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Avoid Inappropriate Content:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google won&#8217;t display icons containing inappropriate or offensive imagery.
